Where flat cable is useful
Flat cable keeps conductors arranged side by side. This can suit festoon systems, cranes, hoists and installations where cables need to stack with controlled movement. Check the available bend space and whether a support member is required for the suspended length.
Where round cable is useful
Round cable is easier to route through circular glands, conduits and many machine assemblies. The YVFR range provides a flexible round nitrile PVC construction, while YVFR-G adds steel-wire support and YVFRP adds shielding.
Compare the complete construction
Compare conductor class, core arrangement, insulation and sheath materials, shielding, support members, rated voltage and minimum bending radius. For the published YVFR family, the rated voltage is 450/750 V, the operating-temperature range is -35°C to 70°C and the minimum bending radius is at least 15D.
Choose from the installation, not the name
Use flat cable when the equipment and cable-management system are designed for flat travel or stacking. Use round cable when routing, glands or machine geometry favour a round profile. If electromagnetic interference or tensile loading is important, choose the matching shielded or supported construction rather than treating those features as accessories.
